Pay & Bonus: Starting at $22/hour (based on experience) + $500 sign-on bonus
The Des Moines Register, part of USA Today Co., has an immediate opening for a full-time Warehouse Team Lead. The qualified individual will work as part of a packaging crew to coordinate overall post-press operations to achieve and maintain on-time production performance. This includes product quality and accuracy standards, operational safety (including OSHA and EPA compliance), and positive employee and customer relations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on supervision of packaging operations to meet safety, quality, and production goals.
- Manage production and shift scheduling.
- Supervise production during assigned shifts, including training, new-hire onboarding, and addressing employee questions and concerns.
- Ensure inserting accuracy and product integrity; complete daily production in a high-quality, timely manner.
- Confirm accurate product staging and readiness for downstream steps.
- Perform hands-on Packaging Operator duties as needed due to staffing shortages, machine issues, or unexpected workflow changes.
- Operate preprint management systems, inserter drive controls, and related reporting tools.
- Perform and verify inventory of strap, bottom wrap, consumable parts, and supplies.
- Assist the Manager/Assistant Manager with packaging reports and web portal data entry.
- Conduct Packaging Operator training.
Requirements:
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong people skills and the ability to lead and coach a team.
- Prior supervisory/managerial experience preferred.
